The Digital TV Group (DTG) is the industry association for digital television in the UK. The DTG's mission is to enable the development of fully compliant and reliable digital TV and media products and services, primarily for the horizontal market, through world-class specification development, conformance testing and consensus building.
In accordance with that mission, in 2010 the DTG launched a consultation on how an interoperable, efficient, stable and innovating horizontal digital TV market might best continue to be delivered. The consultation was open to any organisation or individual with an interest in digital terrestrial television (DTT) in the UK. The consultation ran for 11 weeks and closed in September 2010.
In December 2010, the consultation report summary and DTG Chairman’s recommendations were presented to the DTG’s governing body, DTG Council. The recommendations were unanimously approved and the DTG is currently developing an action-plan to work with industry to create a robust future for the DTT platform post digital switchover.
