Channel 4's Freeview-bound entertainment channel E4 is to go 24-hours. The once-pay-TV-only channel is going free-to-air at the end of the month to coincide with the launch of Big Brother 6.
E4 will broadcast a new music video strand, the E4 Music Zone, daily from 6am to 2pm. The show will have interactive elements, offering viewers the chance to vote for favourite tracks and send in text messages.
E4 chief Julian Bellamy said: "It should provide a fantastic test bed to develop the best interactive music services available."
Channel 4 CEO Andy Duncan added: "By putting interactivity at the core of this new service we are looking to develop commercial revenues from music as well as continue to create exciting and innovative music programming."
