YouTube original content channels go global

YouTube has announced the rollout of original channels coming from UK, France, Germany and the US.

YouTube launched 100 new original channels in the US last year and the website's top 25 original channels are now averaging over a million views every week, according to YouTube's Robert Kyncl, VP, Global Head of Content who announced the launch on Google's official blog.

The new channels will include productions from BBC Worldwide, Endemol, Fremantle, ITN, Jamie Oliver and All3Media, among others. Channel content will cover a range of topics from local cuisine, health and wellness and parenting to sports, music, comedy, animation and news.

Programming will be advertiser supported with YouTube to take a share of the revenue in excess of the front money paid to the production companies.
