The BBC iPlayer received a record breaking 196 million requests in August, driven by the huge national interest in the London 2012 Olympic Games.
The Games powered the iPlayer's highest-ever requests from mobile and tablet devices (22m and 17m respectively),contributing almost a fifth of total requests for August (19%).
The iPlayer also achieved the highest-ever requests per week (51m) and users per week (11.5m) on w/c 30th July 2012.
There was also the highest-ever proportion (32%) of live TV requests during August, driven by demand for live London 2012 Olympic Games coverage.
The previous record had been set the month before, when due to the Wimbledon 2012 Men's Final and start of the Olympics, live viewing had increased to 24%.
The London 2012 Olympic Games ceremonies were the most-requested programmes in July and August
with 3.9m requests for the Opening Ceremony and 2.1m requests for Closing Ceremony.
