Hungary trials DTT

Digital television continues to make inroads into Eastern Europe with a new trial service for DTT in the Hungarian capital of Budapest and Kabhegy, located near Lake Balaton.

It is run by Antenna Hungária, a local transmission company. Viewers will initially be offered public service channels only. But, according to local sources contacted by Broadband TV News, as yet there are no set-top boxes available to viewers, although 2000 have been sent to the homes of VIPs.

Hungary's National Radio and Television Board has yet to grant licences, nor is any legislative framework yet in place.
