UKTV, the digital entertainment channel operator jointly owned by BBC Worldwide and UK cable operator ntl: Telewest, is to air all of the BBC's live World Cup matches.
In addition to those 31 simulcast games, UKTV's G2 channel will broadcast other matches involving England, France and Brazil as part of a 64-match rights package agreed with the BBC and ITV, joint owners of the UK World Cup broadcast rights.
The sub-licensing deal is one of UKTV's biggest programming acquisitions ever, and follows a sub-licensing deal with the BBC to air Six Nation Rugby Union international matches.
UKTV offers 10 digital channels including UKTV Gold, UKTV Drama and UKTV History.
