BT appoints Disney chief for IPTV

BT Television Services, the arm of the UK telecoms giant that is developing a hybrid broadcast and video-on-demand television service, has appointed Antony Carbonari as director of interactive and commercial media.

Carbonari joins from the Walt Disney Internet Group where he was director of its broadband service. Carbonari will join in March and report to BT Television Services CEO Dan Marks.

Marks said Carbonari's "very deep experience of media sales, the branded TV environment and the commercial opportunities offered by interactive technology will help us develop and run critical areas of our new consumer TV proposition".

BT recently announced a string of programming deals for its hybrid service which will combine free-to-view digital terrestrial television channels with on-demand programmes via broadband.

The telco plans a trial of the service in the Spring ahead of a full launch in the Autumn.
