BSkyB is reportedly looking to acquire six multiplex cinemas for around £30m. According to Broadcast magazine, Sky is in talks with US private equity firm Blackstone Group, owner of the 42-strong UGC Cinemas chain.
Broadcast said Blackstone had agreed with competition authorities to offload six cinemas since it already owned the Cineworld chain.
The cinemas are said to be in Birmingham Great Park, Ealing/Slough, Swindon, Harlow, Wigan and Boldon in Tyne and Wear.
According to Broadcast, Sky chief operating officer Richard Freudenstein is spearheading the deal.
