CBeebies to leave Television Centre
Cbeebies, the BBC's channel for pre-school children, is to be moved out of BBC Television Centre in a move which it is claimed will save the corporation £500,000 a year. The channel will re-locate to Teddington Studios early in the new year.
Broadcast Now reports that it currently costs Cbeebies over £1million a year to hire studios from Television Centre. It is thought the cost of hiring studios at Teddington could half of that.
A BBC spokesman said: "CBeebies is moving its presentation department early next year as part of the drive to cut down costs per hour in BBC children's."
