South Korean consumer electronics giant Samsung has announced a strategic partnership with French mobile operator Bouygues Telecom, media group TF1 and VDL, the French digital network provider. The partnership will trial a mobile television using the DMB-T (Digital Media Broadcasting Terrestrial) standard, the first trial of its kind in France.
Last month Samsung shipped DMB-T handsets for the trial to Bouygues. The trial is due to get under way by the end of this month.
Samsung has DMB handsets for both terrestrial and satellite services already up and running in South Korea.
Last month Samsung supplied 500,000 DMB-T handsets to Chinese mobile television operators.
