Sail.tv is Narrowstep's latest IPTV launch
Sail.tv is the latest channel to be launched using Narrowstep's broadband television platform. The free internet protocol television (IPTV) channel, launched last week, streams sailing content around the clock and provides the sailing community with news and features on top class regattas, new sailor signings and boat launches.
Narrowstep is behind 50 broadband television channels, including:
- holiday channels Thomson TV, lastminute.com and the Travel Channel
- extreme sport channel High.tv and Cycling.tv
- city channel Glasgow.tv.
The company also provided its platform to ITV for its ITV Local trial in Brighton and Hastings. The trial, launched in October, is being extended until April after attracting more than 10,000 users each week.
The classified advertising-supported ITV Local service allows users to complement ITV's news and lifestyle service with their own contributed content.
ITV Local project director Lindsay Charlton said the trial extension—it was due to end last month—followed consultation with users and businesses in the Brighton and Hastings areas.
"It will also allow the project team to understand how the viewer-generated content will be accessed," he added.
