Sky readies Real Lives channel for women

BSkyB is preparing to launch Sky Real Lives, a new digital TV channel targeting female viewers aged 35 to 54. Sky Real Lives will broadcast on Sky channel 253—now occupied by Sky Travel—from November 7.

"This initiative is driven by customer demand and fits our ambition to offer the best content in every genre, whether entertainment, film, arts, news and now human interest," said Sky entertainment chief Sophie Turner Laing.

"I am confident that Sky Real Lives will add significant value to the Sky platform."

Sky Travel head Barbara Gibbon said the launch of the channel followed research showing "huge appetite for real life stories that engage the full range of emotions for our viewers".

Sky Travel will move to channel 659, now the home of Sky Travel Shop. Holiday bookings will move online.
