'Admin hitch' delays ITV4 launch on Sky

ITV4's launch on Sky's digital satellite platform has reportedly been delayed for a week. ITV4 will launch on Freeview and ntl on Tuesday. But Broadcastnow.co.uk said an administrative issue between ITV and Sky would mean the channel would not be on air for a further week.

ITV4—the latest channel to join the ITV family under chief executive Charles Allen's multichannel expansion strategy—will open with live Uefa Champions League coverage of Chelsea's tie. Live sport is a key element of ITV's strategy for the channel, which is aimed at light-viewing men in the 25 to 44-year-old age group.

Broadcastnow said Sky would launch its free-to-view channel, Sky Three, on Freeview on Monday, replacing the Sky Travel channel. Sky Three will feature US imported drama series such as 24 and Cold Case, with new lifestyle and travel shows.
