A new digital television broadcaster has been formed in Poland. Polski Operator Telewizyjny (POT) is a joint venture of Polsat and TVN.
According to the Warsaw Business Journal, the heads of Polsat and TVN last week signed a preliminary arrangement to create POT, and would now seek approval for the venture from regulators.
The Warsaw Business Journal said the venture was to have included public broadcaster TVP, but the Polsat and TVN went ahead and formed POT after refusing to wait any longer for a decision from TVP.
Poland intends to switch to digital-only broadcasting by 2014.
