MTV UK goes HD
MTV is to launch a HD version of the MTV channel on Sky in the UK and Ireland.
From 13 February Sky+HD customers will be able to view MTV's local and international content including Geordie Shore, Teen Mom, Pretty Little Liars and 16 & Pregnant in high definition. Sky SD customers will continue to be able to watch MTV in SD format.
MTVNHD which currently offers audiences access to MTV's productions of live music, music videos and documentaries, will be available as MTV Live to Sky customers in both HD and SD format from 23 April.
David Lynn, Managing Director, Viacom International Media Networks (VIMN) UK, Australia, Hungary and Russia, and EVP, International Content Distribution said: "Following MTV's successful move to the Sky entertainment pack last February, which resulted in a stellar 12 months of strong ratings and standout programming, we look forward to furthering our commitment to enriching our audience's viewing experience by offering MTV in High Definition—in addition to MTV Live, which will now be available to both SD and HD audiences for the first time ever. Both of these moves support our long-term commitment to developing, packaging and delivering the highest-quality, music and creative content across all platforms."
