David Docherty - Chairman

David Docherty

David Docherty is Chairman of the Digital Television Group and Chief Executive of the Council For Industry and Higher Education.

In the media world, he was the BBC's first Director of New Media and Deputy Managing Director of TV. In the commercial world, he headed up cable company Telewest's drive into broadband content and services as MD Broadband.

He has been Chief Executive of two media companies providing television and interactive media. In the public sector, he was Chair of Governors of the University of Bedfordshire and was a member of various government advisory panels on new media and future technology. He is also on the management board of The Society of Authors.

He has written extensively on media and technology convergence as a regular columnist for the Guardian, but also for the Financial Times and other national newspapers. He is in regular demand as a speaker at the world's leading media conferences and has served on government committees on the future of technology.

David has senior board level experience as a member of the BBC's Board of Management, Telewest's seven-person Executive Board, YooMedia's board, and as Chairman and Pro-Vice Chancellor of the University of Bedfordshire.

He is the author of six books, including three on the history and sociology of the media, three internationally published novels, and many academic articles across on subjects as diverse as theology, media and sociology.

Richard Lindsay-Davies - Chief Executive Officer

Richard Lindsay-Davies

Richard Lindsay-Davies is the Chief Executive Officer of the Digital TV Group, with responsibility for the organisation's overall growth and development.

With over 20 years of television industry experience, Richard drives the DTG's unique collaborative culture bringing a spirit of insight, creativity and excellence to the Group's activities.

Richard joined the Group as Director of Public Affairs in 2004 working with government and stakeholders to establish the UK digital switchover body, Digital UK. He was appointed Director General in 2006, establishing a new vision and operation before transferring to Freesat as Commercial Development Director where he played an integral role in the successful launch of the platform.

Following the launch of Freesat, Richard returned to his role as DTG Director General in October 2008. In 2012, Richard was named as one of the 50 most influential Leaders in Digital Media by Digital TV Europe.

Before joining the Digital TV Group, Richard spent 15 years in the television industry with roles ranging from electronic design at Sony through to consumer marketing at Toshiba and strategic marketing at Pace.

Simon Gauntlett - Chief Technology Officer

Simon Gauntlett

In his role as Chief Technology Officer at the DTG, Simon is responsible for setting the organisation's strategic technical vision, supporting DTG Technical Council, directing the group's technical programme and managing the DTG's technology team.

Since joining the DTG in 2006, Simon has edited and published three updated versions of the D-Book - the technical specification for digital terrestrial television in the UK. In early 2008 he supported the launch of the UK's free-to-air satellite platform, Freesat, with a test and conformance project, and in 2009 worked with the Group's membership to facilitate the introduction of HD on the DTT platform using the new DVB-T2 standard. He is now focused on developing the Group’s Connected TV standard and leading the DTG’s involvement in future technologies such as home networking, second screen and LTE.

Prior to working for the DTG, Simon spent seven years at the BBC's Research and Development (R&D) department, where he specialised in compression technologies for High Definition video and the delivery of HDTV, working on the BBC's HD trial on the satellite, cable and terrestrial platforms.

Keith Wilkinson - Commercial Director and Chief Operating Officer

Keith WilkinsonKeith Wilkinson is responsible for the administration and commercial direction of the organisation as well as operational management, financial control and human resources. He also acts as Company Secretary.

Keith joined the Group from the BBC where he spent over a decade in a variety of senior accountancy and management roles, culminating in the position of Project Director responsible for managing major change projects.

These included leading a multi-disciplinary unit set up to reduce TV and radio production costs and improve value, as well as conducting numerous production process and cost reviews.
